West Point Lake has 21 beautiful Day-Use Parks for public use. While many people visit the lake to boat and camp, the parks offer a variety of other recreation facilities including tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts, fishing piers, nature and hiking trails, and picnic shelters for individuals or large groups. Picnic shelters can be reserved by calling (706) 645-2937.
West Point Lake Day-Use Parks also feature three public swimming beaches; Earl Cook, Rocky Point and Yellowjacket. All three are open to the public beginning in early May through Labor Day. ($5 per vehicle and $20 per bus or commercial vehicle charge to use public beaches).
Many of our visitors also enjoy coming out to West Point Lake to use metal detectors in search of treasure and lost items. The West Point Lake Project Management Office allows the use of metal detectors, but only in areas designated as “open." All other public property is classified by regulations as “closed". For more information on the West Point Lake metal detector policy download the regulation in the related links menu.
