How do I find the information I want

If you know what you are looking for, you can go directly to the search feature (LINK) described below. However, if you are simply browsing and want to see what’s on the site, we recommend that you start at the Home Page and read the project overview, and then move to either

  • the background information on one of the two projects
  • the overview of the EIS process, or
  • the page that discusses the Public Involvement process to see how your concerns or interests can be heard.

To make it easier for you to move from one of the study areas (say the ACF) to the other (ACT), on each page is a small icon of the project area. Clicking on this icon immediately transfers you to the page describing the other project area.

What do the buttons mean?

Help is where you are now, and this section introduces you to the site.

Search, described below, this button allows you to find key words that can help you locate what you are looking for.

Notice of Intent (NOI) is an official document that the Corps of Engineers has published in the Federal Register. The NOI is required by law, and announces the intent to prepare the EIS’s.

Brochure is like a newsletter. It describes the overall project, including background information on the history and current status of reaching a decision about water allocations in the region.

Questionnaire is a form for you to complete and submit to the Corps of Engineers to let them know what interests you about the project. It also lets you request more information.

Annotated Bibliography lists some of the major documents that are being reviewed in the preparation of the EIS. Additional detailed information may be located from these references, but the actual documents are not on this website.

Public Involvement section provides periodic updates on opportunities to be more involved in the process through workshops. It also shares other items of interest such as newsletters, brochures, and other web pages.

EIS Information section provides general and specific information on how the EIS process works, and gives an overview of the sections that are in preparation for these projects.

How do I use the search button?

The search feature allows you to search for words or phrases, including conditional modifiers such as "and", "or", and "and not". To search for a complete phrase, place the phrase in quotation marks (for example "water quality"). Otherwise, the search engine will look for each of the words and provides more references than you need. Once you submit the search, you are given a list of links that includes the word or phrase you asked for. Clicking on one of these links takes you to pages that contain these words.

What are the Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files for?

Documents that are too long to review on the web page, or that may have specific formatting that should be retained, are available as PDF files. Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 is required to view these files. We have included a copy of this application for you to download as well.
