Recreation
- The district manages 27 lakes with 454 recreation and
nature areas. The Corps of Engineers is the second largest
Federal provider of recreation areas in the nation. Lake
Sidney Lanier, outside of Atlanta, is one of the most
visited of the Corps' 470 lakes. In 1996, Lake Lanier hosted
two Olympic venues.
