Master Water Control Manual Update Environmental Impact Statement for the Alabama – Coosa – Tallapoosa River Basin

Public Involvement

The Corps, Mobile District, scheduled four public scoping meetings in September 2008 as part of its review and update of the Master Water Control Manual for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basin. The public was invited to attend the scoping meetings which provided information on the Master Water Control Manual update process and gave the opportunity to receive input from the public about their issues and concerns regarding that process.

All four public meetings were held using an open house format, allowing time for participants to review specific information and to provide comments to the resource staff attending the meeting.

The formal scoping comment period ended on October 20, 2008.

Public Involvement Opportunities

  • Scoping: On November 9, 2007 the Corps published a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register to prepare a Draft EIS for Revised Water Control Manuals for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa River Basin. Scoping meetings were held in the fall of October 2008 and a Final Scoping Report was released in January of 2009.
  • Draft EIS: When the Draft EIS is released for comment, the Corps will hold public meetings in each of the three states to collect comments from stakeholders. Information on the dates and locations of the meetings will be posted and distributed when it is available. To receive automatic updates, sign up for the mailing list.
  • Final EIS: When the final EIS is made public, the Corps will notify the public and make copies available to local repositories and on the Web site. To receive automatic updates, sign up for the mailing list.
