Federal Recreation Pass Program

 

Annual Passes (good at Corps of Engineers recreation areas only)
     Many Corps of Engineers recreation areas (including day-use parks and boat launching facilities but not campgrounds) charge fees up to $4.00 for their use.  Annual passes are available at the
Resource Mangement Office and some day-use parks and campgrounds for a price of $30.00.
     Annual passes, are good for one calendar year from the month they are purchased.  For example, a pass purchased in October 2007 will be valid until September 30, 2008.  America the Beautiful Senior Pass, America the Beautiful Access Pass, Golden Age and Golden Access pass holders may purchase one annual pass at a 50 percent discount, provided they purchase the pass in person.  Annual passes allow entry to Corps operated recreation areas but do not allow entry to campgrounds.  Passes are hangtags that are typically hung from the rearview mirror.  A sticker is available for open-type vehicles such as motorcycles or jeeps.

NOTICE:  The Golden Age/Access Passport Program expired December 31, 2006.  No new passes will be issued.  The America the Beautiful Senior Pass replaces the Golden Age Passport.  The America the Beautiful Pass replaces the Golden Access Pass.  The Corps honors the new passes, but is not currently authorized to issue them.  America the Beautiful Passes must be obtained in person from other federal land managing agency facilities including those run by the Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Golden Age Passport (good on applicable federal lands)
(for citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are age 62 or older) The Golden Age Passport is a lifetime entrance pass to national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas, and national wildlife refuges that charge an entrance fee. The Golden Age Passport admits the pass signee and any accompanying passengers in a private1 vehicle if a park has a per vehicle entrance fee. Where a per person entrance fee is charged, the Golden Age Passport admits the pass signee, spouse, and children.

The Golden Age Passport also provides a 50% discount on federal use fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, parking, boat launching, and tours. In some cases where use fees are charged, only the pass signee will be given the 50% price reduction. The Passport is nontransferable and does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.

The new America the Beautiful Senior Pass must be obtained in person.  Passports are available are also available at federal areas (National Park, Historic Site, Wildlife Refuge, etc.) where an entrance fee is charged. It is available only to citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are 62 years of age or older. You must show proof of age, such as a state driver's license, birth certificate, or similar document.

The new America the Beautiful Pass are available at federal areas (National Park, Historic Site, Wildlife Refuge, etc.) where an entrance fee is charged. It is available only to citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are medically determined to be blind or permanently disabled. You may obtain the America the Beautiful Pass by showing showing proof of medically determined permanent disability, or eligibility for receiving benefits under federal law.

If your Golden Age, Golden Access passport is lost or stolen there is no mechanism for replacement the new America the Beautiful Pass must be obtained.   

(1) A private, noncommercial vehicle is defined as any passenger car, station wagon, pickup/camper truck, recreation vehicle, or other motor vehicle used for private recreation purposes. This definition EXCLUDES a snowmobile, motorcycle, motor scooter, moped, or bicycle.
