Ralph King Landing (Buffalo Pond)
DESCRIPTION: Slash pines and oaks are the dominant tree species. This area is a part of the Seminole Wildlife Management Area managed by the Georgia Department of Nature Resources. The bluffs offers a scenic overview of the emerald green waters of Spring Creek. Cypress trees and snags (standing dead trees) provide an ideal feeding perch and nesting site for mating ospreys. The historic Georgia Power Station can be seen from the bluff. A floating boat dock and ramp are nearby.
Wildlife: Ospreys, bald eagles, snowy egrets, little green herons, pine warblers towhees and red-winged black birds.
Directions: From Bainbridge GA, take Highway 253 south for about 10 miles. Turn left on Ralph King Landing Road. If you pass over the Spring Creek Bridge you have missed the turn.
