FAIRCHILDS LANDING
DESCRIPTION: A mixture of pine, oak, and magnolias provide ample habitat for many species of birds and animals. A portion of the park is a wildlife management area. Controlled burns are prescribed periodically to clear away understory. There are several lily ponds in the area that provide great wildlife viewing opportunities. The main pond is fringed with cattails and willows and has a pier. Picnic tables, grills, and a boat ramp are also available.
WILDLIFE: Gopher Tortoises, raccoons, fox squirrels, coots, grebes, marsh wrens, red-winged black birds, pilliated woodpeckers and Bachman's sparrows.
DIRECTIONS: From Bainbridge GA, take Highway 253 west for approximately 23 miles. Turn Right onto Alday Road for 2 miles. From Donalsonville, take GA 91 south to GA 221 for about 6.5 miles. Turn left and travel about 12 miles.
