Construction Division is acutely interested in reaching out to our customers in all arenas -- military, civil, FMS and others. We intend to provide construction services that will contribute to meeting specific needs. We tailor our approach to the needs of the customer, making a real effort to listen to customer directions.
We can provide construction services to any Federal Agency as well as non-federal agencies utilizing Federal funds. Customers ranging from NASA to individual city governments have used our services on projects from less than $100 thousand to more than $100 million.
The point of contact in Construction Division for new customers is the Area Engineer in your local area (see Area Office links from the main CD page). For those unsure of the appropriate Area Office, send e-mail us with your questions or needs.
Construction Division supports the initiative of our Headquarters in becoming ISO 9000 certified. Our credentials must reflect our leadership in the area of Quality Management. The Corps of Engineers Quality Management System has long been held as the example in the construction industry and has been mimicked by many. It holds a long tradition of success while still being sufficiently flexible to apply to today's construction needs and procedures. The system is equally applicable to small renovation jobs as well as the largest and most technical engine test facility.
ISO 9000 certification will confirm our quality management leadership in a language that is universally understood in the worldwide construction industry.
As Mobile District maintains close association with our Headquarters in this endeavor, send e-mail for the latest status of our progress toward this goal or to voice your suggestions or comments.
Since Construction Division possesses the knowledge by experience of the successes and failures of many design variations and specified construction procedures as well as a sharp awareness of site specific conditions, our input into the design phase is critical.
To effect this critical input, we intend to devise pre-award QA plans for each project. This planning will allow us to review the needs of the project and schedule appropriate Area Office resources for input at various milestones of the design process. By execution of these pre-award QA plans, a relationship with the designers will be established early in the design process that will facilitate communication throughout the design period. As a result fewer contract changes will be necessary thereby minimizing cost growth.
