The 9,465 acres at
Alabama River
Lakes is a good opportunity to enjoy the various kinds of game and
non-game wildlife. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers manages
approximately 5600 acres of this public use land, along the beautiful
Alabama River, for bowhunting and small game hunting. There are eight
areas open to hunting at Woodruff Lake, and seventeen areas at
Dannelly Reservoir and Claiborne Lake. Only archery or shotgun (size 6
shot or smaller) hunting is allowed in harvesting game animals.
Hunters must obtain a valid State hunting license and an Alabama River
Lakes Hunting Permit.

LowndesCo.Wildlife Management Area, located on the
Alabama River between Selma and Montgomery, offers the public
approx.13,300 acres of excellent hunting and fishing opportunities.
This area is operated by the Alabama Department of Conservation and
Natural Resources of the Game and Fish Division - Wildlife Section.
