To reserve a Picnic Shelter stop by the West Point Visitor Center or call (706) 645-2937.

Picnic Shelters

Picnic shelters are available for reservations at several Corps of Engineers operated day-use areas at West Point Lake.  These facilities are ideal for family reunions, birthday parties, or company picnics.  They are also available for use at no charge on a first-come, first-serve basis when not in use or reserved by another party.

However, some Special Events or Activities may require a separate U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Special-Use Permit”. For more information on special-use permits please contact the West Point Lake Project Management Office at (706) 645-2937.

Currently, shelter reservations may be made in person at the West Point Lake Visitor Center or by calling (706) 645-2937 . However, beginning January 1, 2019 reservations must be made online at Recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777 and can no longer be made in person.

Reservation fees range from $75.00 to $150.00, based on the size of the shelter and the facilities provided.   Payment must be received at the time the reservation is made.  A reservation will assure your group the use of the shelter until the recreation area closes, normally at 9:00 p.m. EST.  All other facilities within the area are available on first come-first serve basis.

Reservations may be made at anytime in the year, but must be made at least 5 days in advance of the requested date.  Fees may be paid with cash, personal check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.  The reservation fee is non-refundable.  To reserve a picnic shelter you must provide the name, address, and telephone number of a contact person, a reservation date, a preferred shelter, and a credit card number, if paying by card. A confirmation letter and user fee receipt will be issued to the person making the reservation.  This information should be available at the shelter on the day of the reservation.

The Corps of Engineers asks your help to keep the area clean for others.  Please leave the shelter area clean when you depart.  Garbage cans are provided for your convenience.  We also ask that you park your vehicles in designated parking spaces.  Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted at the shelters in Earl Cook, Hardley Creek, and Rocky Point Recreation Areas.

Parking spaces may be limited near shelter areas. Additional parking may be found in adjacent locations within the park. Parking is only permitted in designated parking spaces only. Do not park on the grass.
