Fishing

Fishing is one of the most popular activities on West Point Lake. A dozen creeks and more than 40 square miles of lake provide a wide variety of fishing spots for the thousands of anglers who flock to the lake.

West Point Lake has an abundance of bass, catfish, crappie, bream as well as many other fish species. Bank fishing is excellent around the lake and there are several public fishing piers at Hardley Creek Park, Rocky Point Park, and McGee Bridge Park. All piers provide access for persons with disabilities. Preteens and visitors with disabilities can also fish in a pond at Hardley Creek Park.

There are many fish structures throughout West Point Lake. The structures that are maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and our partners are marked with a buoy that has the graphic at right and the words "Fish Attractor". On the right hand side of this page you will find links to a list and map of fish attractors around the lake. These spots are some of the most prime spots for fishing on West Point Lake.

Before coming out to West Point Lake to fish make sure you have the proper state licenses. Some parts of the lake are in Alabama and require an Alabama fishing license, while other parts of the lake are in Georgia and require a Georgia fishing license. If you aren't sure what parts of the lake are located in which state check out the map on the right hand side of the page.
