Fishing

Located on the Chickasawhay branch of the Pascagoula River Basin, Okatibbee Lake is one of the Corps of Engineers’ best lakes for fishing. Extensive beaver flowages, stump beds and old creek channels provide abundant cover where anglers battle largemouth and striped bass. The lake also boasts large populations of catfish, crappie and bream. Crappie, catfish, stripers and bass are caught from the fishing platform at the tailrace below the dam.

More than 20 fish attractors and several bream beds have been constructed on the lake to provide an even better fishing experience. A cooperative management program with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks includes the annual stocking of both forage and game fish.

Always check local, state and Corps of Engineers regulations before fishing on a Mobile District lake or waterway. Contact the Okatibbee Lake Project Management Office with any questions you have about fishing at Okatibbee Lake.
