The U.S. Coast Guard reports that 85% of drowning victims in recreational boating accidents were not wearing a life jacket. To help reduce the number of water-related injuries and fatalities at Corps of Engineers facilities, the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office started the Life Jacket Loaner program.
The program allows the public to borrow life jackets from 23 different life jacket loaner stations around the lake as long as they return them when they are done.
Life jackets are available for both children and adults. All that is required by visitors to secure a life jacket is a proper form of identification. If you have forgotten your personal flotation device, do not own one, or possess a flotation device that is unsafe or doesn't fit properly, please drop by one of our loaner stations, loaner trees, or loaner bulletin boards and borrow a life jacket. You never know when it can save your life!
