Port of Gulfport Expansion Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Releases Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Water Control Manual for Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Basin for Public Review and Comment

MOBILE, Ala.-– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACF) for public review and comment. The National Championship Rowing Regatta is being considered at Lake Sidney Lanier on Memorial Day Weekend

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District is considering a request from the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) for special consideration to hold the National Championship Regatta on Memorial Day weekend at the Clark’s Bridge Olympic Rowing Venue, Lake Sidney Lanier. USACE may give special consideration to this event based on the design and purpose of the area where the event is proposed to occur. [Read More]

Walter F. George Lock Closed

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that Walter F. George Lock will be closed to all commercial and recreational traffic effective immediately for repairs. The duration of this outage will be determined after an inspection in mid-July, but is expected to last at least through the month of July. The only exception will be for essential transit by U.S. Coast Guard or USACE vessels. [Read More]

R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park and West Point Dam Road to be Closed April 26, 2015

Shaefer Heard Day Use Park and the road across West Point Dam will be closed to all vehicular traffic, at 6 p.m. Saturday April 25, 2015 thru 2 p.m., on Sunday April 26, 2015 for the 12th Annual West Point Lake Triathlon. McGee Bridge Dock Closed for Repairs

MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project announced that the courtesy dock at McGee Bridge Park is closed for use until repairs can be made to the walkway section. A barricade and closed sign are posted. The public is discouraged from using the dock as this could cause additional damage to other portions of the walkway section. Thank you for your compliance. Playground Improvement Underway at West Point Lake

MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE) Mobile District at West Point Lake announced that efforts have begun to replace aging playground equipment in various parks around the reservoir. The existing playground equipment is more than 20-years-old and has become outdated. A total of 12 playgrounds are scheduled to be replaced. All of the outdated equipment is being removed. Hardley Creek and Eagle View Parks will receive new equipment this year. Other parks will be fitted with new equipment later this year and in subsequent years. [Read More]

Ringer Park Temporary Closured for Upgrades

MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project announced that Ringer Park will be temporarily closed, on a periodic basis from mid September through October, so Anderson Construction Company can perform facility improvements. West Point Dam Road Traffic Restricted

MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed Monday, September 15, 2014 through Friday September 26, 2014 to ensure public safety as contractors complete roadway maintenance.
