Published Oct. 3, 2014

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District closed Half Moon Creek Park - located at the West Point Lake Project in West Point, Ga. – permanently on Oct. 1.

“This is part of a larger measure to adjust operations of the project recreation program in the face of increasing operating costs and shrinking budgets,” Lance Davis, a public affairs specialist, said.

There are 23 other Day Use Parks and four campgrounds at West Point that will continue to operate for the public’s use.

For more information, please contact the West Point Project Management Office at 706-645-2937 or visit www.sam.usace.army.mil and click recreation to find West Point or a Mobile District-managed Corps lake project near you; go to http://corpslakes.usace.army.mil/visitors/ to locate any Corps lake project in the U.S.
