Planting Day Event; project office announces

MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE), Allatoona Lake Operations Project Management Office in partnership with the Cobb County Parks, Recreation, Cultural Affairs Department announces a planting day event for Saturday, September 29.  Volunteers are needed to help dig and plant river cane, America’s only native bamboo.

The event will be held at 5690 Old Stilesboro Road, Acworth, GA 30102 from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and footwear and be prepared for outdoor conditions.  Please bring your own gloves, food, and drinks.  Drinking water will be provided on site. 

This environmental restoration project aims to restore old pasture land near the shore of Allatoona Lake to a native wetland ecosystem.  Please join us in this opportunity to bring back a small part of the natural landscape.
