Corps of Engineers to close Buford Dam Road, nearby day-use parks for repairs

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Lake Sidney Lanier Project Management Office is scheduled to close Buford Dam Road and day-use parks in the immediate area Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. for miscellaneous road and guardrail repairs. Repairs are expected to be completed by 5 p.m. the same day. Lake Lanier will reopen the parks and Buford Dam Road for public use once repairs are complete.

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Lake Sidney Lanier Project Management Office is scheduled to close Buford Dam Road and day-use parks in the immediate area Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. for miscellaneous road and guardrail repairs. Repairs are expected to be completed by 5 p.m. the same day. Lake Lanier will reopen the parks and Buford Dam Road for public use once repairs are complete.

Day-use parks that will close during the repairs include Lower Overlook, Lower Pool West, West Bank Turn-out, and West Bank Park.  The public is asked to remove all vehicles from these parks no later than 10 p.m. on Dec. 11.

During the repairs, the Lake Lanier Project Management Office and Visitor Center will remain open for public access. In the event of inclement weather, the Corps of Engineers will postpone repairs until Dec. 13.
