MOBILE, Ala. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, announced today that Town Creek Campground in West Point, Miss. will close for the winter season Nov. 1, 2017, and is scheduled to reopen Mar. 1, 2018. The campgrounds are located on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.

Seasonal closures of Corps-managed campgrounds maximize the operational efficiency of our Nation’s recreation resources, while minimizing negative impacts to visitors of public lands.

To provide members of the public with an alternate location to camp during the winter season, DeWayne Hayes Campground in Columbus, Miss. will remain open. DeWayne Hayes Campground is located directly across the lake from Town Creek Campground and is only a short drive from Columbus Air Force Base.
