    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s Bay Springs Site Office in Dennis, Miss. has temporarily closed Old Bridge Beach and Piney Grove Beach on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Watery due to high water level impacts until further notice.
  • CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER FLOWS WILL BE UP AND CONSTANT FROM THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL NOON ON FRIDAY

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today the river flows in the Chattahoochee River below Buford Dam will be a constant 1,000 cubic feet per second through approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on 27 June to noon EST 28 June. There will be no hydropower generation during that period.

  • Special Activity Permit Fee for Hunting at Allatoona Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Allatoona Lake Project announced today that, beginning in the 2013/2014 hunting season, a $20 special activity fee will be assessed for hunting on certain Allatoona Lake lands. This fee is necessary to offset increasing costs in administering the program and for some future improvements of wildlife habitat.

  • Allatoona Lake: USACE programs return for recreation season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allatoona Lake Project in Cartersville, Ga. is gearing up for the 2013 recreation season with several programs returning. Vessel Safety Checks by the U.S. Coast Guard are scheduled to kick off May 25 at Blockhouse Ramp and marinas around Allatoona Lake.
  • Corps Announces Public Scoping Meeting for Environmental Impact Statement for the Port of Gulfport Expansion Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District (USACE), in coordination with the Mississippi State Port Authority (MSPA), will hold a public scoping meeting on Tuesday, May 21 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Marriott Courtyard Gulfport Beachfront Hotel, 1600 East Beach Boulevard, Gulfport, Miss. 39501. The purpose of this scoping meeting is to announce modifications to the permit application for the Port of Gulfport Expansion Project for which an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being prepared.
  • Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam to Reopen

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today the Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam located on the Apalachicola River in Chattahoochee, Fla., will reopen to all vessels. The lock will reopen on Saturday, April 27. The lock was closed on December 10, 2012 to allow repairs to the hydraulic system that opens and closes the lock gates.
