Port of Gulfport Expansion Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement

MOBILE, Ala.-- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE) Mobile District, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Port of Gulfport Expansion Project. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Releases Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Water Control Manual for Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Basin for Public Review and Comment

MOBILE, Ala.-– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACF) for public review and comment. Army Corps of Engineers supports new “Every Kid in a Park” recreation initiative

WASHINGTON (September 2, 2015) – President Obama, with the support of the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation to include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today the start of a new initiative to give every child in the United States the chance to explore and learn about America’s great outdoors. The Every Kid in a Park initiative will provide all fourth grade students and their families with free admission for a full year to more than 2,000 federally-managed sites nationwide. [Read More]

The National Championship Rowing Regatta is being considered at Lake Sidney Lanier on Memorial Day Weekend

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District is considering a request from the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) for special consideration to hold the National Championship Regatta on Memorial Day weekend at the Clark’s Bridge Olympic Rowing Venue, Lake Sidney Lanier. Walter F. George Lock Closed

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that Walter F. George Lock will be closed to all commercial and recreational traffic effective immediately for repairs. The duration of this outage will be determined after an inspection in mid-July, but is expected to last at least through the month of July. The only exception will be for essential transit by U.S. Coast Guard or USACE vessels. [Read More]

USACE to restrict Vehicle traffic on Buford Dam Road for maintenance activities

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lake Sidney Lanier Project Management Office is scheduled to restrict a portion of Buford Dam Road, starting near Sawnee Campground (Forsyth County) and ending near Pannell Road (Gwinnett County) from Tuesday, June 16 to Thursday, June 18, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day for maintenance activities. Commuter traffic will be accomadated and allowed through before 8:30 and at 4 p.m. rush hour. [Read More]
