The event was part of the district’s National Engineers Week outreach program to teach school-age children the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is scheduled to visit the University of South Alabama Children’s & Women’s Hospital, Feb. 20, as part of the district’s National Engineers Week outreach program.  During the visit, engineers will teach the children about the USACE mission, hold an interactive bridge-building activity, and hand out Mardi Gras-themed items.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is looking for proposals for beneficial use of dredged material pilot projects pursuant to Section 1122 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016, Beneficial Use of Dredged Material. Proposals must be submitted to USACE on or before March 12, 2018.  More information on the program and solicitation can be found in the Federal Register notice, 83 Fed. Reg. 5763 (Feb. 9, 2018).

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Senior Driller Eddie in January Woods drills holes in the Carters Reregulation Dam, Jan. 24, as part of a multi-district effort to cut a slot in the dam and relieve stress caused by concreate expansion. The holes will allow the Nashville District to feed diamond rope through the hole to cut a slot dam to relieve the stress.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that Jim Woodruff Powerhouse Road and North River Landing Road at the Lake Seminole Project Management Office in Chattahoochee, Fla. will be closed to the public, March 4-6, for an interagency training exercise.  
During the same timeframe, the public will also be restricted from accessing the Lower Pool Access Area, West Bank Overlook, and the parking area adjacent to the Jim Woodruff Dam entrance.
