Colonel Steven Roemhildt assumed command as the 50th District Commander in the history of the Mobile Engineer District in May 2010.
Prior to this assignment, the colonel served as the Deputy Commander for the Transatlantic Division since July 2009. As such, he was responsible for a Division command and control organization overseeing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction within the U. S. Central Command area of responsibility. He also worked as an Assistant Director, Civil Works, responsible for policy formulation and program level reporting.
A native of Minnesota, Colonel Roemhildt is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1987. He earned a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska – Anchorage and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Alaska. Colonel Roemhildt is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Officer Advanced Course and the U.S. Army Command and Staff College.
Colonel Roemhildt has served in a variety of assignments in the combat engineers (division mechanized, division light, corps wheeled); U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (project engineer and assistant resident engineer, Alaska District; NATO project officer, European District; Deputy District Engineer, Pittsburgh District; District Commander, Nashville District; Operations Officer, Gulf Region Division, Baghdad; Civil Works Special Project Officer, HQUSACE); and installation management where he was a facility engineer with Task Force Sinai of the Multinational Forces and Observers and an engineer plans officer for 8th U.S. Army, Korea. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Joint Endeavor, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Colonel Roemhildt wears the combat action badge, parachute badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, Bronze Star Medal, 8 Meritorious Service Medals, and 8 Overseas Service Ribbons. |
